Best tips for problem free paint job

Take your time! Most problems arise when people try to rush through their projects and skip important steps. We always tell customers to shake and stir their paint before beginning a project – it helps give them better coverage and ensures that products perform properly. You’ll also want to properly prep the surface you’re painting. Some materials require little to no prep, while others may require a bit more patience. Our Everyday Guide is a great resource for what to do before, during, and after your paint project.

The best paint finish for a maintenance free home

Jolie Paint and Finishing Wax are both great, low-maintenance products. Because Jolie Paint has a matte finish, it can easily be touched up and is great for hiding imperfections on walls or furniture. Jolie Finishing Wax will help improve the durability of Jolie Paint and is also easy to touch up if you get a scratch or scuff mark in your finish – all you have to do is add a bit more wax and your mark should come right out!

Best technique for painting cabinets

Jolie Paint is great for updating cabinets – it’s easy to do and much less expensive than replacing them. There are a few important things to consider before you begin. The first is to identify what your cabinets are made of, a handful of surfaces require light sand before painting. You can read more about this in the FAQ section of our non-toxic paint brand. You’ll also want to be sure to thoroughly clean your cabinets before you begin to remove any grease or dirt. This is particularly important in kitchens where cooking oils are used. Once you’re ready to paint, just follow the steps in our Everyday Guide to create your desired finish. We are going to be coming out with a lot more info on cabinet painting soon, but in the meantime, you can refer to our Video Tutorial for more details.

How is finishing wax used for a flawless finish?

Jolie Finishing Wax is our recommended topcoat product for most types of projects. It seals and protects interior furniture and home accessories that have been painted with Jolie Paint. It also works beautifully on raw wood. It’s available in a variety of colors, which can be used to create different types of finishes. It also has no odor and is non-hazardous, so you can use it indoors. A good tip is to work in small, manageable sections of 2-3 feet at a time and be gentle with your finish while the wax cures (this usually takes about two weeks). You can read more about waxing in this Video Tutorial or in the How to Use section of our website.

Best bedroom colors for a good night’s sleep and the colors you should avoid

When choosing a paint color for your bedroom, it’s best to go with soft, muted neutrals. Blues and greens are thought to be the most calming. Our Serenity Color Collection is great for bedrooms. It’s comprised of five colors that evoke tranquility and comfort: Palace White, Dove Grey, Zen, Misty Cove, and Eucalyptus. I’d steer clear of anything too bright, especially colors on the warmer end of the spectrum, like reds and yellows.

The colors that will take over the home in 2020

Our color of the year is Legacy: a deep, muted green with dark grey undertones. I think you’ll be seeing a lot of it this year. It’s great because it works like a neutral in the way that it goes with almost any color, but it isn’t boring. It can be bold or soft, modern or traditional, it just depends on how you use it. We’ll be announcing our 2020 Color Collection soon, which is a selection of colors that we believe are on-trend for 2020 and that work well with Legacy.
