You may have wondered when the best time to go to Home Goods shopping for the best deals. With Home Goods opening at 9:30 is, its hours of 9:30 am to 9:30 pm Monday through Saturday and 10 am to 8 pm on Sunday, we wanted to know when the best time to go is. Christine says, “Home Goods is a treasure trove of home decor and accessories that mimic luxury brands and contemporary design at a fraction of the cost. With its ever-changing selection of merchandise, my favorite days to go are Tuesday to Thursday, when the store opens at 9:30 am. I like to go with a latte in hand. The store is usually quiet and all the shelves have impeccable organization. I tend to notice that there’s less customer traffic in the morning, which makes the shopping/hunting experience more relaxing and fun.”

Best Buying Tips

If you’ve ever wondered how to make sure you’re getting the right items for your home, Christine has some tips. She says, “It’s always wise to constantly be doing your price research, to ensure you know you’re getting the best deal for your next Home goods shopping spree.

Go with a focus, but also keep an open mind. I like to screenshot Instagram/Pinterest images and save them in my phone. This ensures I’m staying true to the design and inspiration I want to stick with. It’s easy to get side-tracked and digress from all the beautiful and chic offerings that Home Good often entices us with, but they can also serve as a distraction.

In the same vein, a unique furniture item could also cross your path, that can make the perfect addition to your space! Carefully inspect all furniture and if you find any marks or scratches, be sure to connect with a manager for a further discount (often starting at 10%). Measure spaces and note them in your phone for reference; for example, the floor space for a new rug, or wall space, for a piece of art or mirror to hang. Finally, take advantage of the Home Goods 30-day return policy. If you’re on the fence about decor accents, bring them home and try it out to see if it goes with the space. Sometimes it’s difficult to imagine how things will come together until you see it in person.”

Favorite Decor Items

Home Goods shopping is a decorators dream. With so many options at steep discounts, you can be overwhelmed. We wanted to know what Christine’s favorite decor items are to help us stay on track! She says, “Anything with gold/brass accents, I absolutely love. I recently picked up these beautiful agate coasters with gold trim by Rachel Zoe. They add a touch of luxe to my coffee table. I also love ginger jars in different sizes and patterns, they look like pieces collected from journeys taken afar.”

Best Buys

Wondering what a super shopper recommends for the best buys? Christine says “I love hosting dinner parties, so it would have to be my dinnerware and gold flatware (that look exactly like the ones sold at West Elm). I always put together a dessert station, so I also collect cake stands to create a beautiful display. My best buys are the ones that are not only beautiful, but are functional and have a long life.”

Tips For Putting Together Your First Space

It can be a daunting task to put together your first new space, but Christine has an amazing tip for this. She says, “Go large to small, meaning, focus on the bigger pieces (couch, rug, table), and do accessories last. Everything anchors on the major pieces, and the layering process thereafter comes to play once the canvas is set.”

Stay Focused Near The Holidays

It can be easy to join the holiday buying rush, especially during Black Friday, when Home Goods has amazing deals and extended store hours (opening at 8 am on Black Friday this year). Christine says, “It’s easy to get caught up in all the fun holiday merchandise that’s displayed at Home Goods, it’s very tantalizing with its array of options. My tip is to stay focused! If the goal is to stick to a color theme (i.e winter whites), constantly reference back to your inspiration images, to keep the blinders on from allowing you to get distracted. If you don’t find everything you’re looking for in one visit, frequency is key, as stores are getting shipments in almost daily with hundreds of new items.” Don’t forget that a Home Goods gift card can be an amazing gift for a friend and loved one!

Avoid Outdated Items

To ensure that you are getting the most in season decor, Christine has a few tips. She says, “The month and year is on the right middle (under category) on each item, this will show you how long the product has been in store. It will read as 4 digits, i.e. 1120 – November 2020. The goal for each product sitting in a store is to be sold in 2-3 weeks, so if you see that this date is a month or two out, it will be get tagged by a red sticker shortly and be put in clearance.” Most stores receive shipments 4 times a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with items trickling out, so new items appear daily. Don’t forget to follow these tips to avoid buying out of season!
